The Hair Texturizer You Never Thought to Use (But Suki Waterhouse Did!)

by Martha Adams

Sometimes, the best beauty products aren't exactly beauty products at all. We've slathered on mashed avocado hair masks in the name of split end-free strands and we were moisturizing our faces with coconut oil way before it became a thing . And while we've tried our fair share of out-of-the-box ideas, it looks like Suki Waterhouse is giving us a run for our money when it comes to the DIY game.

"I rinse my hair with Coca-Cola sometimes," the supermodel and star of Insurgent recently said. "I don't like my hair when it's washed—it's fine and limp—but Coca-Cola makes it tousled, like I've gone through the Amazon or something," she explained.

(Perhaps Suki is taking beauty lessons from a certain clay-eating Divergent series co-star? Here's looking at you, Shailene Woodley .)

And while her beachy texture is what hair dreams are made of, let's be realistic for a sec—dumping a can of Coke on your head is only for the most desperate of measures. Most likely it's the soda's sugar content that's giving Suki the hair grittiness she craves, but there are far less stickier solutions to achieve cool-girl waves. Just look to these salt spray and texturizers for every hair type below, and leave the Coke in the fridge—not on your shower caddy.

It's still a good trick, though, because we know what soda can do to our waistlines ...
