If you’re a lipstick junkie like me, then odds are you could probably reach into your bag now and pull out any one of the ten lippies floating around at the bottom of your bag. Then you’d probably wish you’d thrown in that hot new coral colour you have at home too – you know, just in case…
Well, lipstick lovers rejoice! I’ve found out a way that you can justify each and practically every one of your lipstick loves! How you ask? Well, here’s five great ways for you to get the most out of them…
- Lip colour – okay, perhaps a wee bit obvious, but it definitely stands as the top use for lipstick, so it deserves a mention, no? - Lipstain – if you’re after a pretty, kissed-off lip colour, then a lipstick can definitely serve your purpose. To achieve a ‘stained’ look, ensure your lips are dry and then apply your lipstick as you normally would, allowing a minute of drying time. Then apply a second coat and repeat the drying time before kissing a tissue up to 10 times, or until you’re happy with the slight tint left on your lips. - Blush – sound kind of odd? That’s okay, we thought so too. Until we saw MAC’s Senior Make-up Artist, Nicole Thompson , demonstrate how applying lippy to your cheekbones and blending with a super fluffy brush results in an effect very similar to cream brush – and looks amazing! The darker the lip shade, the more contoured your face looks. Just ensure you keep darker lip shades just underneath your cheekbones (like you would bronzer) and lighter pink shades near the apples of your cheeks and along your cheekbone. - Eye gloss – to give your peepers a slightly pigmented, glossy sheen, simply apply a bit of lipstick to your index finger and press it over your eyelid. The sheen of your lipstick will work like a cream eyeshadow and light up your entire eye area. Work with a small amount of colour and build it up if you’d like a deeper hue. - Hair hue – feel like adding a bit of oomph to your party look? Tap into your youthful hair mascara days and smudge a bit of your bright lipstick over the lighter parts of your hair for added ‘wow’! A bright fuchsia smudged on the ends of your hair is the perfect addition to any Saturday night outfit, a la Lauren Conrad.
